Eternal Soundings is inspired by kintsugi. Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by joining pieces with gold. Instead of discarding the broken pieces, kintsugi finds new beauty in the act of repair. The form of this piece attempts to mimic the concept of a musical idea being broken and repaired. Fragmented musical ideas are slowly assembled, broken, and finally repaired.
